PROBE Born now – Campaign against “Inflated” bills

“Protesting Residents Over Billing by Electronic Meters” (PROBE) is a campaign launched by The United Resident’s Joint Action (URJA). This will act as association of consumers who are getting excessive billing after installation of New Meters.

It is to be noted that Delhi High Courte on Tuesday stayed the State Commission’s order on Discoms ( Private distribution companies) URJA acclaims that the order was in accordance with the rules Under section 56 – 1 (b) of the Central electricity Act 2003, which relates the dispute between a conconsumer and a Discom.

Delhi Citizens Front (DCF) has decided to appeal against the stay order and go to courte to fight the stay order. Reaction is genuine by all these associations. There are people who understand the rights of a consumer and know how to fight for them.

The Government should take these reaction seriously as citizen need to be protected by all means.

NDPL & Co. Strikes Back

Media Adviced too :( ” Not to express itself in a manner which prejudices the mind of the reader”

BSES Rajdhani & Yamuna as well as NDPL challenged the power of the State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission under the Consumer protection act by filing a writ petition at Delhi High Courte. Mr. Rajiv Nayyar representing the companies claimed that Commission did not have the superintending powers, which are vested in a Judicial forum and not a statutory body.

Delhi High Courte issued stay on commission order that restrain power comapnies raising bills based on New Meters.

Now where the consumers will go?? What happened to there fate?? It always happens to common people only.

Another interesting stuff spotted that NDPL staffs many of them spend whole day today all over and discunnect any wire going along with there electric lines. When asked they say this is the drive started by NDPL and they will not allow any one to use there Poles. All the cables, Internet connections went down and even private telephone exchange wires gone too. I never seen so many people working together aggressively.

Is this an indication that NDPL is declaring an open war agains unauthorized use of there poles or this is there regular drive.

Are Indians safe abroad?

Five days after his abduction by the Taliban, the body of Indian driver Maniappan Raman Kutty was found in southern Afghanistan.

The slaughtered body of 36-year-old driver was found by the roadside in Delaram district of Nimroze Province. He was employed with the Border Roads Organisation (BRO).

Due to more income or better income we have a tendency to go abroad. But are we safe there?

Delhi meters episode take turns again.

Privatisation is becoming a symbol of problems for consumers now a days. Discoms the private distribution companies compromise of, Reliance owned BSES Rajdhani and BSES Yamuna an TATA owned NDPL ( North Delhi Power Ltd.) They have installed the new meters without verifying them, and also without declaring the old meters defective and non functional.

Sheila Dixit the chief minister of Delhi earlier instructed the Discoms to stop installing new meters when Times Of india reporters publish a news in respect of design fault in New Meters. Discoms were not commented on that when they were contacted by TOI reporters. next day they came with there face saving statement that,

  • Consumers are not educated and…..
  • They have faulty wiring in there house

Big Joke and a depressing one.

Howd you blame the consumers like this?

  • As per initial instruction to Discoms was to change only those meters who are faulty or defective, instead they have changed the mass.
  • Why dont they took precaution before installing the new meters.

  • Why they didnt trained the staffs as well educated the customers before installations.
  • Why they keep there eue closed and have deef ears when general consumers start complaining about the excessive billing.

Now, The consumer commission took action against them and issued a showcause notice. They have decieded that the consumer have to pay bill on average of six months billing.

My question again is, Why the average six months billing, why not took average on more than year as these meters are installed more than six months and bills are irregulated since then. Why this drama happened.

Many thanks to TOI and Mr. M.K. Chaudary who brought this to public, Its a real shock that no politicle parties speak a single word yet. Why they will !! who cares for common people !! its a Irony we all have to face.

Is it time for a Ministry for Children?

India have the largest child population about 400m. It is always said that yout of India are the future of India. With over 40% of our population is under 18, do you imagine a separate ministry for them? This is not a Kidstuff :)

    Why not !!

The Europian Network of Ombudsmen for Children (ENOC) operates around 12 countries in Europe. It extend its cooperation in implementing the convention on rights of the child, lobbying for the children rights, make stratagies and promote the development of independent office for children.

Here in India what is the reality.

    1. Ministries are choosen on the basis of 60% adult votes only. Should be there, how a child know what is good and what is bad.

    2. Out of every four children one will have to work to earn his bread and butter, that at the cost of his child hood.

    3. Out of 1000 children born in India 95 dont see there 5th Birth day.

    4. Money allotted for child welfare and aiding them hardly reach to them.

Why not we can have a ministry for them who can provide one stop solution for children in India :)

Charging more over MRP – How much is justified.

Most of the resturants, PVR’s, and other places in Delhi you will find products are cost more than its MRP. Things like Fountain cola’s or Popcorns are overpriced heavily. Do you think this is justified or ever determine what should be the acceptable price. Most of the consumers dont bother as they work hard on 6 working days and just want to relax and have fun on holidays.

Just have a look at the story of Saurabh Sachdev who filed a case in consumer courte, against a resturant and won it too. On 21st october 2005 courte order comes against the resturant owner with Rs. 20,000 penalty for selling the products over MRP (Maximum Retail Price).

” Jago Grahak Jago” a punchline on consumer rights by Delhi Government attracts his attention and he immediately taken the action against that. According to Saurav’s counsel Mr. Kapil Mitra ” Saurabh was charged Rs 23 plus sales tax and surcharge above it, for a bottle of mineral water, where as MRP includes both the taxes too.”

I am not here for lashing all these, but posting here a thought what shopuld be a Justified price for the proiduct we use in our day to day life.

    Where your children are going?

Ever noticed what all your children are watching in TV programms. Do you know the quality of the programs which all they watch and what are they learning. Most of the parents does not care about it.

Recent research shows a child learn more when visualise rather than reading. Children will quickly adopt what ever they see. If a child below 10 see wild hunters hunting on Discovery channel or watches chokesline in WWF etc what happened to his or her’s mental condition?

Even parents love to watch family drama like Saas and Ghar Ghar etc. which are nothing but a bunch lies and hate. All these serials fuelling politics in tha family and spread mistrust on your near and dear ones. I wonder how many TV serials from Balaji Telefilms and others who carry the same story becomes so much popular.

    Electricity Charges or Overcharges?

Electricity bills are increasing day by day with some arrears, some taxes, some charges, etc. Some are doing electricity theft and we are indemnifying the deficit by paying arrears and other charges. If someone is stealing electricity and the Electric supply cannot stop it then is it our fault? What do you think?

    Telephone Service Providers

MTNL and BSNL are the oldest and the biggest Landline Service Providers in India. Voice Clarity is better and services has also improved. Documentation is also very easy now-a-days. A special feature is available in MTNL and BSNL Landline phones. You can call any TOLL FREE numbers from these phones. These facilities are not available with any other Landline service providers. Knowing all these, customers still go for other service providers. Is it really worthy for going for other service providers?
